Engine and generator maker Cummins will hire about 500 engineers for a global research & development hub coming up in Pune, investing Rs 1,000 crore in that. It will be one of the largest technical centres globally.This investment will conclude by March next year.
We already have a workforce of 1,500 engineers and it will be expanded to approximately 2,000 employees," Anant J Talaulicar, Chairman & Managing Director of the Cummins Group in India, told ET.
"About 80% of the engineers will be doing global work, global R&D, futuristic technologies for Cummins Inc., and so this is our example of export of human services in the engineering area," he added.
Cummins, based in Pune, started operations in India more than five decades ago and has 17 plants and about 9,700 employees.
